GTD records 29,490 traffic violations, 1,967 accident in a week

The Traffic Affairs and Operations Sector, represented by the General Traffic Department and the Emergency Police, documented a total of 29,490 traffic violations over the course of a week.

Conducting comprehensive campaigns in collaboration with traffic regulation departments across all governorates, the General Traffic Department aimed to enhance road safety and apprehend individuals violating traffic regulations and laws, reports Al-Rai daily.

The outcomes of the weekly traffic campaigns included the placement of 20 violators in precautionary detention, the referral of 19 juveniles to the prosecution, the recording of 17,552 violations, and the apprehension of 19 wanted individuals. Additionally, 30 vehicles linked to wanted persons were seized, along with 6 residency violators, 2 individuals in an abnormal condition, and 10 individuals without proper documentation.

The traffic police also referred one person to the General Administration for Drug Control and handled 1,967 accident reports, comprising 868 minor accidents and 245 serious ones.

As for the Rescue Police statistics from the 16th to the 22nd of this month, they issued 11,938 traffic violations, impounded 4 vehicles, and provided humanitarian assistance to 1,610 cases.

The rescue personnel successfully apprehended 172 individuals wanted by various authorities, 110 residency violators, 31 individuals in an abnormal condition, 102 vehicles with outstanding warrants, and seized 159 individuals without proper documentation. All were subsequently referred to the appropriate authorities for legal action.
