Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdul Rahman Al-Mutairi has issued 3 decisions regarding the regulation of commercial advertisements in the ministry’s publications and TV and radio advertisements.
The decisions, a copy of which has been obtained by a local Arabic daily, said the most prominent of what was stated in the decisions pertain to the price of advertising in the Ministry of Information publications, the Kuwait Magazine and its publications on national products and industries and small projects will get 50%, and on Gulf products and industries 25% of the applicable prices.
The decision exempts awareness advertisements for ministries, public authorities and institutions, public benefit associations and civil society organizations from the commercial advertisement fees specified under this resolution if the following conditions are met:
— That the advertisement does not include any commercial purposes or references to sponsors.
— That the advertisement does not aim to achieve any material profit.
— The advertisement shall be submitted by the concerned authority directly to the competent department without any intermediaries
The decision the following can opt for direct advertisements on television at a 50% discount of the prescribed prices:
1 – State ministries, public authorities, institutions and other government agencies.
2 – Kuwaiti charitable committees.
3 – Kuwaiti public benefit associations.
4 – Kuwaiti sports authorities and federations.
5 – Companies, institutions and local authorities with tourism and recreational activities.
6- Kuwaiti artistic production companies and institutions for the artistic works they produce, provided that they obtain the necessary licenses from the competent authorities
7- The authority responsible for the plays shown on local Kuwaiti theaters.
8- Owners of projects classified as (small) provided that proof of this is provided by the concerned authorities.
9- Companies or institutions that provide in-kind services for programs
