Government studying possibility of some sectors working online

High-ranking government sources are discussing the possibility of changing working hours for government employees from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm is on the card and that there is an inclination to allow some employees to work online to coincide with the change in working hours, Al Qabas daily reported.

The sources told the daily that the concerned government agencies are also in the process of determining the sectors that can work online and the most appropriate mechanism that can increase the flexibility of work and raise productivity.

The sources indicated the government is planning to introduce this system of work especially since during the Corona pandemic remote working has proved successful. However, the institutions that can work online, including, but not limited to, the legal sectors, information systems sectors, and most jobs that do not deal with the public directly..

The sources indicated in addition to allowing some sectors to work online completely, other sectors may see a decrease in the percentage of working hours and that the employees may be divided into two or more teams and report for work in person or work online.

The sources said this is just a proposal and the aim is to develop the work mechanism and keep pace with global changes and focus on productivity and not on the attendance of employees only.

And about the advantages of working online, the sources explained this proposal will reduce traffic congestion and have a positive impact on productivity.
