The Ministry of Interior has deported 2,111 expatriates over 10 years from 2010 to 2019, on an average 211 people annually after they were diagnosed as carries of the Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).
The Al-Rai daily quoting sources said, another 21,622 expatriates were deported over the same period because their samples tested positive for malaria, filariasis, tuberculosis, and hepatitis B and C at the labor examination health centers.
The total number of expatriates who were deported after testing positive for AIDS and other diseases was 23,733 over the 10-year period. Giving a breakdown, the daily said 2,355 people were deported in 2019; 2,468 in 2018 – 2,931 in 2017 – 2,470 in 2016 – 2,847 in 2015 – 2,724 in 2014 – 2,360 in 2013 – 1,921 in 2012 – 1,843 in 2011 and 1,814 in 2010.
