A 21-year-old girl died hours after undergoing rhinoplasty procedure, which ended in a blockage of blood flow to the victim’s lungs. According to Al Rai newspaper, the victim lost consciousness shortly after arriving home from the hospital and suffered from several consecutive heart attacks.
The brother of the victim said that she was in good health, and had not suffered from any serious health problems, adding that the tests revealed the presence of a large amount of blood in the victim’s lungs, trachea and esophagus, which resulted in her difficulty to breath.
The victim’s family is filing a complaint with the Public Prosecutor’s Office to determine whether any party was responsible for medical negligence. According to experts in the US and the UK, rhinoplasty is one of the most common cosmetic procedures among women, and can lead to permanent breathing difficulties, damage to the cartilage wall, and an altered sense of smell.
