Georgia hosts reception to mark Independence Day

Ambassador of Georgia H.E. Konstantin Djingti held a reception on 23 May at the Crowne Plaza Hotel to celebrate his country’s Independence Day, and the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations with Kuwait, in the presence of Kuwait’s Assistant Foreign Minister for Development and International Cooperation Minister Plenipotentiary Hamad Al-Mashaan. The celebrations were attended by members of the diplomatic corps, special guests and media personnel.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Djingti expressed his gratitude to Kuwait for its commitment to the principles of the United Nations on independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of states and non-interference in internal affairs. He also voiced hope that bilateral relations between the two countries in all fields would be strengthened as a result of the upcoming high-level visits between officials of the two countries.

Explaining about the painting exhibition titled ‘Georgia in the Eyes of Arab Painters’, which was held on the sidelines of the reception, Ambassador Djingti said the exhibition was another clear evidence of bilateral cultural relations. He noted that the paintings “were done by Kuwaiti artists during their visit to Georgia, where they also met their Georgian colleagues. We hope that we will also be able to see an exhibition of their works in Kuwait in the future.”

For his part, Al-Mashaan affirmed that exempting Kuwaitis wishing to visit Georgia from entry visas prompted the Kuwaiti private sector to invest in Georgia as it is a stable country. He also indicated that there are about 10 agreements signed between the two countries, which help boost bilateral relations between the two countries.

The operation of direct flights by Kuwait Airways and the Georgian airlines indicates the strength of relations between both countries, said Al-Mashaan while wishing Georgia continueds and prosperity.
