France has learned with sadness of the disappearance of the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah and offers its sincere condolences to the family of the Emir and the people of Kuwait.
Throughout his reign, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah has led Kuwait on the path of stability and modernity. Man of peace and dialogue, Minister of Foreign Affairs for more than forty years then Emir of Kuwait from 2006, he worked tirelessly to implement an enlightened and balanced diplomacy, to calm regional tensions, and the promotion of the values of humanity.
With the passing of Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, the Kuwaiti people are losing a great leader, respected everywhere for the values of openness and dialogue that he embodied.
Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah has helped strengthen the deep and sincere ties of friendship between France and Kuwait. France expresses its friendship to the authorities and people of Kuwait and wishes His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah every success in his new function.
