On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of National Day of Kuwait and the 30th anniversary of the Liberation, I would like to convey to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and to all our Kuwaiti friends my warmest congratulations and best wishes for prosperity, health and success.
France and Kuwait enjoy deep and long-standing ties of friendship and trust. The French people keep a vibrant memory of France participating in the coalition that led to the Liberation of Kuwait. Over 15 000 French troops contributed in liberating our Kuwaiti friends and this commitment continues to this day with a strong defense cooperation.
This year we also celebrate the 60th anniversary of the independence of Kuwait and of our friendship. A very special year for both our countries and a great occasion to give a renewed momentum to our partnership. The enhanced strategic dialogue between our two countries is the first signal of this new momentum.
Our two countries also share a common commitment to the promotion of multilateralism, regional stability and international solidarity. Kuwait has worked steadily for regional stability and peace. In this regard, I would like once again to commend Kuwait’s mediation efforts, which have enabled the reconciliation of the Gulf countries. We strongly believe our two countries can work hand in hand to further peace in the Middle East at a critical juncture.
The multiplication of global issues, exacerbated since the onset of the pandemics, reminds us how essential it is that we continue our collaborative efforts to build a more just, sustainable and secure world. Kuwait has a long-standing tradition of being a critical actor in multilateral and humanitarian action. From global health to protecting our planet I am very confident our joint contribution can make a difference.
