Former IBPC chairman Anant Kapadiya passes away

Well known Indian community member and former chairman of the Indian Business and Professional Council – Kuwait (IBPC) Anand Kapadiya passed away in Toronto, Canada. He was 75 years old.

Indian Ambassador Shri Sibi George expressed his sincere and heartfelt condolences on the passing away of Anant Kapadiya.

Kapadiya spent around 45 years of his life in Kuwait, after which he  left to Canada in February this year. He suffered a stroke and passed away yesterday morning.

Kapadiya had made an exceptional contribution to the cause of Indian music and culture in Kuwait.  He promoted India’s classical music through collaborations with premier organizations in Kuwait like Dar Al Athar Al Islamiyyah and Kuwait’s National Council for Culture Arts and Letters.

He organised several Indian events in Kuwait featuring  legendary  Lata Mangeshkar, Pt Ravi Shankar, Ustad Alla Rakha, Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Ustad Shujat Khan, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and others.

He also represented IBPC as part of Indian Community Support Group which was at the forefront of helping distressed Indians during the pandemic. Kapadiya is survived by his wife Indira and three children, Akshatha, Mriga and Amit.
