The Kuwaiti flag was projected on the Matterhorn mountain in Switzerland, to highlight hope and solidarity with the GCC countries and the rest of the world in light of the current coronavirus pandemic.
Swiss light artist Gerry Hofsetter has been displaying the flags of different countries on the 4,478-metre peak, as part of his series of artistic renditions to offer a message of hope to those countries battling the surge of COVID-19 cases.
The Matterhorn is a mystical and majestic mountain of the Alps, and straddles the main watershed and border between Switzerland and Italy. The Swiss town of Zermatt is located next to the mountain.
On his official website, the tourism organization Zermatt Matterhorn wrote: “Many Arab countries suffer from the coronavirus. We give hope and strength to the people of the GCC countries and the many expats living there: The Matterhorn shines for them tonight. Together we will overcome the crisis.”
With this light projection, Zermatt endeavors to show hope and solidarity in these difficult times. The village shows solidarity with all the people who are currently suffering and is grateful to all those who are helping to overcome the crisis.
Light is hope! In this sense, the Matterhorn is illuminated daily during the Coronavirus pandemic.
