Tuesday morning, the General Department of Fire Brigade administratively closed some shops and popular markets during a campaign in the Shuwaikh Industrial Area and Mubarakiya Markets, after they were warned earlier to comply by the fire department rules and regulations.
A local Arabic daily said the inspection teams closed 3 shops in the Mubarakiya markets, two popular markets and a basement in the Shuwaikh Industrial Area, which was used as storage for sanitary ware products.
The violations varied, as some practiced the activity without obtaining a license from the public fire force, the failure of some to comply with the requirements of safety and fire prevention, and the poor storage of some materials in violation of the Prevention Law.
