A fire that broke out at a house in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area was extinguished by the fire brigade, whose timely action prevented the flames from spreading to neighboring houses.
Four teams from Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Farwaniya, Al-Ardiya and Musharraf fire brigades, led by the Acting Director of the Farwaniya fire brigade, rushed to the scene within four minutes from receiving news of the fire.
Cars parked on either side of the narrow road leading to fire site made access difficult for the fire-engines, and firemen were forced to deploy their water hoses from a distance. Items such as carpets, sponges, furniture and tents that were lying about the house further fueled the fire and give rise to thick acrid smoke plumes that engulfed the area.
One person who was reported to have jumped from the building before the arrival of the fire brigade, sustained serious fracture and was taken to the hospital by paramedics. The Department of Public Relations and Information said that personnel from the fire brigade were investigating the cause of the fire and appropriate action would be taken.
