Finance Ministry says documents intact, brushes off cyber attack

The Ministry of Finance disclosed that those responsible for the cyber attack against the Ministry made unauthorized copies of certain state property management records. These included rental agreements for chalets and lands, as well as duplicates of valid and expired civil identification cards.

It was affirmed that these documents remain intact, and the Ministry possesses additional copies as a precautionary measure, reports Al-Seyassah daily

Furthermore, it was emphasized that all data concerning government employees’ salaries is not stored within the Ministry’s systems. Financial transactions for government agencies are ongoing and unaffected.

Additionally, the Ministry highlighted the engagement of a specialized international firm, trusted by major international private and governmental entities, to combat this type of cybercrime. The firm follows a stringent and methodical framework for recovering from the aftermath of the cyber attack.
