Filipina worker returns to Philippines to seek justice for murdered daughter

Blessie, a Filipina working a household helper in Kuwait, returns home tonight to the Philippines to attend the burial of her daughter, and seek justice against two police authorities accused of sexually molesting and shooting her daughter until she was lifeless.

In a brief interview with The Times, mother said that she is glad as she is coming home but saddened that the return is marred her daughter’s death. She was in tears when The Times spoke to her at the Terminal 4 of Kuwait Airways prior to her departure.  “I urge all mothers to care for their children. What happened to me is not easy to accept and I will fight until I get justice for my daughter,” stated Blessie. She extends her gratitude to the Charges D’ Affaires of The Philippine Embassy Mohammad Noordin Lomondot for arranging her immediate return to the Philippines and looking after her needs. “I am grateful to our CDA for this very kind gesture as he helped me return home at the earliest time. Thank you, Philippine Embassy and Thank you GMA 7 for highlighting this case in the media, I am forever grateful,” stated Blessie. She is unsure if she still will return to work in Kuwait.

Blessie’s 15-year-old girl was shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, on Thursday night, July 2. Cabugao police chief Captain said in an interview on local radio on Saturday, July 4, that the girl was attacked on her way from the Cabugao police station where she had just filed a “molestation complaint” against two policemen from neighboring San Juan town. The girl’s older cousin was also allegedly molested by the two cops, Llarenas said.

The police chief said that the victim was on a motorcycle ride home with her uncle and a male cousin, when a motorcycle with two passengers wearing helmets and face masks chased and bumped their motorcycle. They targeted the girl and shot her 5 times before fleeing. The girl was rushed to the hospital, but she was declared dead on arrival. Her uncle and cousin were not hurt.
