Fentanyl overdose kills one person every 10 hours in San Francisco

A man reaches for drugs, the fight against drug addiction. Social problem, drug addiction, death, addiction.

Drug-related deaths rose 41% in San Francisco in the first three months of this year — an average of one person dying from an accidental overdose every 10 hours, according to a Sky News report.

According to the report, the corpses were found on the doorstep of the main government building in San Francisco, twisted with the effects of fentanyl, a painkiller 100 times stronger than morphine, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The network adds that the city with the largest number of billionaires on earth has become an open market for drugs.

The report presents the statements of a number of those affected by the spread of drug addiction during the past years in the city, as they emphasized the seriousness of the matter and the spread of drugs, especially fentanyl, in a large way in various parts of the city.

Despite the high number of drug-related deaths, Sky notes, people in the city are divided over how to deal with the drug rampage throughout the city, and while some are calling for a widespread and aggressive campaign against addicts, including the use of the National Guard, others prefer a more sympathetic approach to dealing with the crisis.
