Probe launched; murder appears to be result of family dispute
A 31-year-old Kuwait man was shot dead by his father inside their house in the Al Andalus area of Al Farwaniya Governorate on Sunday, Arabic daily Al Rai reported.
The 56-year-old father turned himself over to the police and handed over a handgun and AK-47 assault rifle that was in his possession. He confessed that he shot five bullets at his son and killed him.
Kuwaiti security authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to find the cause of the homicide.
The newspaper said the father used the AK-47 to kill his son. The shooting incident happened due to family disputes between them, Al-Rai said.
The Public Prosecution ordered the detention of the father, who was remanded into custody pending further investigation and trial on charges of murder.
The prosecution referred to the victim’s body for forensics examination to conduct an autopsy.
