Green Cross Kuwait, is a voluntary Organ Donation Drive, propagated and initiated with the noble cause of organ donation after death to save lives. With a view to increase the availability of organs and spread awareness about gifting a life, an enlightening and informative self-awareness workshop on ‘Organ Donation’ was conducted for the students of Classes IX and XI on Sunday, 21st May, 2023.
The session was presided over by the resource person, Fr. Davis Chiramel (Chairman of Kidney Foundation of India) and harbinger of this great endeavour in Kuwait. During the session, he emphasized on the importance of organ donation and dispelled common misconceptions regarding organ donation. His talk was an eye opener on how valuable the gift of life is. The workshop included a comprehensive overview of Organ Transplantation with a lucid talk on Brain Death. Fr. Davis, himself being a donor, addressed the students on the need of donating organs and saving lives. He announced the commencement of the ‘Run For a Life’marathon, as well as elocution, drawing and quiz competition.
The session came to a close with Fr. Davis explaining the importance of the donor card and encouraged the students and parent community to be the ambassadors and custodians of this noble cause. It was absolutely an interactive, thought provoking and inspiring session.
With the words of Myles Monroe: “The value of life is not in its duration, but it’s donation”,let us all strive to create a revolution and bring out the quintessence element in this noble cause.
