Extensive campaigns to punish ‘power’ thieves

The Deputy Head of the Judicial Control Team of the Ministry of Electricity and Water, Ahmed Al-Shammari, said teams of inspectors will soon intensify campaigns to punish those who steal power supply through illegal connections particularly in construction areas, ‘slums’ and what he called ‘tin-roof’ houses and accommodations of housing workers.

Al-Shammari told Al-Anba these violations are very serious and dangerous and negatively affect the network and public safety because this could result in an electrical short circuit.

He announced the campaigns will include the Capital, Farwaniya, and Jahra governorates in cooperation with the Kuwait Municipality, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Interior, and the Public Authority for Housing Welfare.

Al-Shammari pointed out the northern region judicial police team in coordination with the distribution networks and the Kuwait Municipality carried out a joint campaign under the supervision of Capital Governor Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled, to monitor violations in more than one area Thursday, including Sharq and Al-Daiya, and cut off the power supply to one bachelor’s housing Al-Daiya.
