Experts say hottest of summer ends tomorrow

Al-Marzam, the thirteenth season in Kuwait, is marking its hottest period according to astronomers. The Director of Public Relations and Media at the Astronomical Center, Khaled Al-Jamaan, said in a statement with an Arabic daily that this season, also known as the “ember of heat”, is the most intense each year. According to the astronomical calculation of the al-Ujairi calendar, the equinox in Kuwait falls in September, which is the astronomical onset of fall and end of summer. After this season, the emergence of the Suhail star, the sun’s rays will be less piercing.

The Marzam season is the moniker of the Star of Al-Marzam, referencing the astronomical name of the extremely bright star, called Sirius, which is adrift in a distance of 8.6 light-years away from Earth. This star’s luminosity is approximately twice as that of Suhail. Al-Jamaan added that Al Marzam is followed by the Kulaybin season or the rainy season preceding the Suhail season.
