Expats arrive at Kuwait Airport after 6 months of closure

After a closure that lasted 6 months, the implementation of the Cabinet’s decision to allow vaccinated expatriates to enter Kuwait, the incoming residents onboard breathed a sigh of relief as they landed on Kuwaiti soil, bearing hopes of returning to their jobs that they were cut off from, many returned to their loved ones as families united after a long separation, Al-Rai daily reported.

The daily accompanied the return of the first flights carrying expatriates, which arrived at dawn Sunday, onboard planes of Kuwaiti, Al-Jazeera, Emirati, Qatari and Turkish airlines, from several destinations, where many of them were received with hugs and tears of joy.

A number of the arrivals expressed the joy of return. Miriam Mitamic from Croatia said, “I enjoyed the trip, and the reception was good here. I was away from Kuwait for two years due to the precautionary measures taken due to the Coronavirus, and I wish safety for everyone”.

As for Raafat’s mother, she expressed her joy by saying that it is a day that will remain immortal in her memory with the arrival of her children after a long period of absence, as they have completed all the required procedures, including taking the vaccine and doing a PCR examination. She thanked the Kuwaiti authorities for opening the airspace and praised the airport’s organization and the procedures that were followed.

For his part, George Azzam, who comes from Turkey, a Lebanese national, said that the procedures were very simple and easy, and the access process went smoothly without any complications, even though the Kuwait Musafer application had some flaws, but it was quickly fixed and the matter was restored.

At nine o’clock yesterday morning, the Lebanese Airways plane arrived, with some returnees from Beirut and Egypt on board, via “transit”. Rola Younes said that she spent about a month in Lebanon and that things were very easy at the airport. She added that a request to download the “Shlonak” application was requested of the passengers on the plane, and it did not take more than two minutes to complete the procedures until the customs arrived.

Dr. Muhammad Hassan, who returned from Egypt through Lebanese territory, said that transit and entry procedures for Kuwait are easy and convenient, especially for those who received vaccinations inside the country, and therefore their procedures regarding the Kuwait Mosafer and Immune applications are going well.

A number of the returnees on the Lebanese Airways plane expressed their happiness to return after spending several months outside the country, due to measures to confront the Coronavirus, as Issa Assaf, returning after 8 months of absence, could not describe his joy of returning, and said, “I feel that I have returned to my second homeland”.
