Embassy of Thailand celebrates National Day

Embassy of Thailand celebrated the country’s National Day with a colorful event on 5 December at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, during which the Chargé d’Affaires of the Thai Embassy, Watanachai Narandon highlighted the strong bilateral relations between Thailand and Kuwait.

 

Noting that the two friendly states established diplomatic relations on 14 June 1963, Mr. Narandon said that next year would mark the milestone 60th anniversary of relations between the two countries.

He added that Thailand and Kuwait enjoy close bilateral relations in all fields, starting from trade, investment, tourism, health care, education, energy and agriculture, to visas and consular issues, referring to the visit of the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad to Thailand. Further highlighting that Thailand is among the most visited tourist destinations among Kuwaiti citizens, he indicated that Kuwaitis enjoy Thai culture, food and health care.

For his part, Assistant Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs, Ambassador Sami Al-Hamad, describing Kuwaiti-Thai relations, said they were historic and distinguished, and that Kuwait enjoys partnerships with Thailand on the commercial, economic and investment levels.

Al-Hamad further added that Kuwait under the directives of Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Al-Sabah, is seeking more cooperation with countries, to develop and enhance bilateral relations, and to find investment opportunities, whether for foreign investors inside Kuwait, or for Kuwaiti investments abroad. He continued, “We have previous agreements with Thailand regarding exemption from double tax fees, and exempting holders of diplomatic and special passports from prior application of visas.” In conclusion, the Thai Embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires stated that Thailand is a founding member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which unites its 11 member states and promotes cooperation between them.
