Drugs are behind 65% of crimes in Kuwait

The increasing rates of violence and crime in the country is a result of drug and psychotropic abuse, Al Qabas reported.

The sources revealed daily that 65% of the crimes in Kuwait are related to the sale, use, or promotion of these toxins or Drugs.

According to the sources, out of every 50 cases investigated by the security services in the country, 35 are related to drugs. About 50 to 60 percent of the total prisoners were convicted in drug cases.

The sources indicated that 25,000 people were accused in drug cases from 2010 to 2020 in about 19,000 cases, noting that there are more than 12,000 citizens among the accused, and 93 percent of them are men.

Regarding the number of addicts, the sources revealed that there are more than 40,000 addicts in Kuwait.
