Drones to hunt violating camps

Thamer Al-Mutairi, the Deputy Director-General for the Affairs of the Governorates of Jahra and the Capital and Head of the Spring Camps Committee, confirmed that “the municipality will refund the camp insurance value if the licensees commit to raising and removing their camps and cleaning their site before handing it over.”

Al-Mutairi stated that nearly 60 percent of the campers have committed themselves to removing their tents and vacating their sites on time. The Ministry of Interior and the Environment Public Authority will remove any existing camp and issue immediate fines for those who fail to raise their tents.

He added, starting today, Monday, the municipality will carry out extensive field campaigns on specific sites, specifically within the Kabd and Shuaiba areas. He stressed the need for campers to raise their tents before the bulldozers reach their site, as confiscation or crushing will be their fate. Al-Mutairi indicated that inspector teams will rely on drones to monitor the existing camps by taking aerial photos as proof. Accordingly, the camp owner will be fined and deprived of the insurance value.
