Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Consultant at Kuwait Hospital, Dr. Marzouq Al-Azmi, advised mothers to breastfeed their children for at least the first 6 months, because of its benefits for children, as international studies have proven that it increases children’s immunity and reduces the symptoms of allergies and eczema. He stated in a statement to Al-Anbaa that if breastfeeding continues after the age of 6 months, it is also preferable to introduce foods that contain iron or give iron supplements, in order to avoid iron deficiency in the child.
Dr. Al-Azmi stressed the importance of adhering to the vaccination schedule, indicating that vaccinations are considered the most important means of preventing diseases, reports Al-Anba daily.
Dr. Al-Azmi explained that respiratory diseases affect children during this period, especially infants. He advised keeping children away from sick and infected people, and keeping them warm during the winter.
