When the Public Authority for Manpower asked the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to raise the costs of recruiting domestic workers from 890 to 980 dinars the request was met with a firm ‘No’.
PAM had based its request on the high cost of travel and other expenses but the ministry stressed the cost of recruitment through offices and the recruitment company should not exceed 890 dinars, including the cost of travel ticket and examination of the worker in his/her home country.
The ministry added in the event of a violation of the decision, the ministry will have to apply the law on violators and prevent them from doing business, noting that a working group has been formed to receive complaints in this regard.
Moreover, sources revealed that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is heading to launch wide campaigns against the offices of recruiting domestic workers, specifically offices that do not comply with the ministerial decision to set the price of recruiting domestic workers at a value of 890, including travel tickets and medical examinations.
