Diving team sees dead fish in Naqaat Al-Shamlan

In line with the expectations of the Environment Public Authority of the occurrence of the red tide phenomenon and the accompanying death of fish, the Kuwaiti diving team announced that it had spotted, Saturday, dead fish in Naqaat Al-Shamlan in the Souk Sharq area.

The team said all waste from the Kuwait Bay was removed in cooperation with the market administration and the fishermen’s union, reports a local Arabic daily.

The EPA had warned about a week ago of possible fish deaths in Kuwait Bay, resulting from high temperatures and stagnant water, in addition to some human activities (draining untreated water and rainwater into drainage networks), which contributed to decreasing the quality of sea water, and helped plankton to flourish — the vegetation that causes the phenomenon of red tide, which is accompanied by the death of fish.
