Directorate-General of Fire Department (DGFD) said it has taken all legal measures against one of its employees from the payroll department who has allegedly embezzled two million dinars of government money.
While, the DGFD has denounced the incident, saying it has formed a committee to look into the issue, steps have been taken recover the money in coordination with the Public Prosecution.
The Al-Qabas daily quoting security sources said, as soon as the incident was discovered, the DGFD in less than 8 hours, took the necessary steps, informed the Public Prosecutor and the employee was taken into custody from his work place.
The sources indicated the incident was discovered by the Financial Affairs (payroll) Department after checking the salaries of employees before posting them through the integrated civil service information system.
According to the statement, the suspect working as an accounts clerk in the salaries department embezzled the public money by depositing money in his account as a salary item.
