DGCA limits arrivals to 1000 passengers daily

Airlines were required to reduce the number of passengers arriving at Kuwait International Airport from January 24 to February 6 under the directives of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Al Anba daily.

The Director of the Department of Air Transport Abdullah Al-Rajhi, said in a special statement to Alanba daily that all companies operating at Kuwait Airport are urged to limit the arrivals to 1,000 passengers per day.

On the directive of the health authorities in the country to the civil aviation, Al-Rajhi stressed the need to exercise caution during the next two weeks to protect against the spread of the Coronavirus, especially with the emergence of one of the new strains of the virus in the past week in passengers travelling to Kuwait from Britain.

He pointed out that the decision of the Civil Aviation would be for a period of two weeks until laboratories were functional at Kuwait International Airport to conduct tests on arrivals, explaining that the decision excludes domestic workers and transit passengers.

In a question about the fate of passengers coming to Kuwait who have pre-reserved tickets on the various airlines during that period, Al-Rajhi explained that airlines will schedule flights to Kuwait during the coming period, in implementation of the decisions issued by the civil aviation in a way that preserves the rights of all passengers.

On the other hand, sources in local airlines told Al-Anba that the companies will study the new decision, which will be implemented on Sunday, and the operating departments will work to schedule some flights in a manner that guarantees customers their rights to their pre-reserved tickets.
