Decisions to be taken on the 32 country ban list

A government meeting will be held today, 10 September to review the list of 32 banned countries from where expats are not allowed to enter Kuwait over coronavirus fears. There is a possibility for adjusting the list to remove some countries within the framework of a gradual return to normalcy plan based on health conditions in those countries, Al-Rai daily reported.

Minister of Health Dr. Basel Al Sabah will present a detailed health report on the latest developments related to the pandemic. The daily said, quoting sources, that the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior and Directorate General of Civil Aviation will fall into a general agreement to exclude some countries at first stage based on a review of the health conditions in each country with the lowest infection rate.

After careful evaluation, each will be removed from the ban list to permit flights from those countries. This will take place within the planned framework of the first phase to operate commercial flights with not more than 100 flights per day with employees at 30%, and the flow of passengers not more than 10,000 per day.

According to official statistics in August, 632 flights departed Kuwait carrying 76,237 passengers, and 541 flights arrived with 28,205 passengers onboard. In the first eight days of September, 167 flights departed with 14,295 passengers on board, while 168 flights came to Kuwait 9,808 arrivals.
