Customs authorities seize 580,000 packets of tobacco hidden among sanitaryware goods 

Customs officers affiliated to the Inspection of Goods Department at Shuwaikh Port have seized about 30 tons of tobacco, which arrived into Kuwait in two containers from the Jebel Ali Port.

According to Al-Anba after the consignment arrived at the Shuwaikh Port no one came to claim and after the expiry of the 90-day period, the containers were ordered to be opened in line with the customs rules and regulations and after inspection found the contraband, the import of which is banned by law since it is considered a drug harmful for health, was sent to the Bait Al-Mal to be destroyed.

The daily quoting port sources said the bill of lading showed the containers carried a cargo of sanitary ware but in fact inspectors found 580,000 packets of tobacco (Best brand) approximately 30 tons.
