CSC to study issue of 3 days sick leave per month without seeing a doctor

As part of continuing efforts to mechanize health services, and to facilitate citizens, the Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, has written to the Civil Service Commission regarding the launch of a new electronic service, which will help obtain sick leave without medical consultation, through electronic platforms.

The Ministry of Health stated that the new service, through this system an employee can obtain sick leave via electronic means approved by the Ministry of Health without visiting the health center to relive pressure on health centers, primary health care facilities or medical personnel in various regions of the country and contribute to improving the quality of health service, reports Al-Rai daily.

The proposal stipulated that the duration of sick leave granted to the employee through electronic means should not exceed 3 days per month.

The Kuwaiti Medical Association has thanked Minister Al-Awadhi for taking this step, noting that it was one of many proposals it presented, as approximately 25 to 40 percent of dispensary visitors are medical leave seekers.

Informed sources at the Civil Service Commission told the daily that the issue of obtaining a sick leave request without consulting a doctor was previously presented to the Civil Service Board, and no decision was taken regarding it.

The sources added that the Legal Department at the Bureau is concerned with expressing its opinion on the Minister of Health’s request, and that if approved, coordination will be made with the Systems Sector at the Civil Service Bureau to prepare the systems and link them with the systems of state agencies, to activate the service of obtaining sick leave without medical consultation.
