CSC to establish government training center to block ‘parachute appointments’

The government training center that the Civil Service Commission has proposed to establish and for which the final touches are being given for its implementation intersect positively with the government’s desire because one of the tasks of this center is to stop parachute appointments

A government source told A-Qabas the Council of Ministers said in a statement that the CSC proposal to establish a ‘Government Training and Testing Center’ has been referred to the Legal Affairs Committee to develop a mechanism for its implementation.

The source revealed that the center “is considered the first step in achieving administrative growth, raising the efficiency of public sector production, and achieving equal opportunities among the employees.

The source pointed out that the follow-up of the concerned government institutions will run a check on the candidates nominated to take up jobs, and get rid of the wasta phenomenon that has until now succeeded in putting the principle of equal opportunities and competitiveness among employees on the backburner and stressed on the need to rid the society of such phenomena.

The source indicated the CSC for about a year ago had begun preparation for an integrated proposal for the establishment of a training and rehabilitation center for the public service at its various levels, to upgrade the service that relies on the application of the idea of tests after training to be a detailed criterion in nomination and appointment, stressing that the proposal has the support of the Council of Ministers.

The source pointed out that the center, according to the proposal for its establishment, is specialized in training, qualification, and testing for appointment to public positions, supervisory positions, and senior positions. The applicant for the job and after passing the courses, the differentiation is built on the basis of the tests that will be developed based on specialized committees in the various administrative and technical fields.
