A Kuwaiti doctor has died due to COVID-19, becoming the first such fatality among Kuwaiti medical professionals. Dr. Abdullah Shuaib, a surgeon, had contracted the virus in a quarantine of the Public Works Ministry in early June, Al Qabas reported.

He was admitted to an intensive care unit at the Jaber Hospital with health complications.

Health Minister Dr. Basel Al Sabah has mourned Dr. Shuaib’s death and offered condolences to his family. “We ask Allah Almighty to bless him with His all-encompassing mercy and great forgiveness,” the minister said in a tweet.

Kuwait so far has recorded a total of 60,434 virus infections and 412 related infections.
