Council of Ministers passes relevant decisions to tackle coronavirus cases rise

The head of the Government Communication Center and the official spokesperson for the government, Tariq Al-Muzrim, announced that the Council of Ministers took several decisions after its extraordinary meeting, today, Wednesday.

The Council of Ministers passed a number of decisions in response to the increase in coronavirus cases, hospitalizations and intensive care, and an increase in the rate of infection to swabs. The decisions will start from Sunday for one month, after which it might be extended depending on the observed changes.

The following are the list of decisions made in the interest of public health.

1- All commercial activities to be closed between 8 pm to 5 am except for pharmaceutical and food businesses.

2- Close restaurants, reception halls from 8 pm till 5 am, and only allow delivery.

3- Suspending health clubs, salons, barbershops and spas.

4-  Freezing all activities related to celebrations, renting halls, tents, catering and others. All gatherings, including those celebrating national holidays, are prohibited.

5- Halting sporting activities and friendly matches.

6- Preventing the entry of expats to the country, except for first-degree relatives and domestic workers who are registered with the Kuwait Traveller app.

7- One-week institutional quarantine for arrivals to the country.

8- Imposing penalties on government employees who fail to comply with health requirements in the ministries.

9- Postponing the installment collection for business owners of the Small and Medium Enterprises Fund for a year
