Conference discusses roadmap for digital transition

Kuwait endeavors to enhance digital technologies and improve work efficiency in all sectors, said the Deputy Director General of the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT), Dr. Ammar Al-Hussaini, while delivering the keynote address at the Kuwait Digital Transformation Conference (KDTC) that opened on 2 November, at the Jumeirah Messilah Beach Resort & Spa.


He added that digital transformation is a tool to achieve the vision of New Kuwait 2035, and that it is an important factor in increasing investment in Kuwait’s IT sectors, as it attracts companies specialized in digital technologies. Al-Hussaini also noted that the conference will address topics that aim to improve cooperation between the government and private sectors to build an advanced digital economy with a flexible system that could help the private sector to modify digital transformation.


The two-day KTDC also discussed ways to improve health care and education services, as well as the banking and financial sectors by transforming digital services, namely banking services and future payments. Elaborating on this, Dr. Anwar Al-Harbi, the training advisor at CAIT, affirmed the importance of training people to accommodate digital transformation within institutions. He added that the government’s Sahel application is part of the digital transformation, as it provides several services under one platform that thereby reduces time and effort needed to accomplish several government transactions.


The conference also tackled the latest developments and challenges in digital transformation through a series of immersive sessions and panel discussions with experts sharing insights on adopting smart and digital technologies in line with Kuwait Vision 2035. More than 500 specialists and executives in the field of digitization in the country, ICT experts, solution providers and leading international consultants participated in the conference.


The gathering discussed the latest plans and innovations in the digital transformation journey that the country is going through, as well as presented global best practices and innovative solutions to overcome challenges and ensure access to successful and secure digitization of processes and services. For her part, Director, Technology Capability Management, at Ooredoo Kuwait, Dina Subuh, said, “At Ooredoo, we hope to help achieve growth and sustainable development and innovation as an integral part of the digital transformation process. Customers today are pursuing a more strategic approach to resolve challenges, improve operations, and grow while going beyond and as an ICT service
