The competency tests for expatriates coming to the country will still continue, and no decision has been issued to cancel or postpone it, the Director General of the Public Authority for Manpower, Ahmed Al-Mousa, revealed to Arabic daily Al Rai recently.

Al-Mousa said  that with the spread of the Corona virus and the precautionary health measures that led to the cessation of the recruitment of workers, the tests were automatically stopped but with exceptional cases and approval of the Corona Emergency Committee , competency tests are applied. Professionalism according to the rules set and were implemented before the spread of the virus

Regarding the restriction of proficiency testing procedures to newcomers only, Al-Mousa affirmed that the same tests are applied when transferring residency or changing from one profession to another for residents inside the country, according to a list of specific professions, while that list will be expanded to include the largest number of technical professions in future.

Iman Al-Ansari, Deputy Director General for Development and Planning Affairs at the Authority, noted that they were working on the list of professions that will be subject to professional tests in the future, in consultation with public benefit societies concerned with professional jobs. It is likely that accountants will be included in the category that will be subjected to the tests soon, in coordination with the Association of Accountants.
