Committee to resume cutting power supply from violating apartments

Deputy Head of the Judicial Enforcement Team at the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy and a member of the Committee to Address the Phenomenon of Bachelors, Ahmed Al-Shammari, said inspection teams are preparing to resume the campaign to cut off power supply for bachelors’ quarters in all governorates of Kuwait – bachelors who reside in model areas.

Al-Shammari added, told Al-Anba, that the Ministry of Electricity is a key member of the committee that was formed in 2019, and its campaigns have met with success over the past years.

Al-Shammari said last June, the number of violations exceeded 90, which is a record number for one month, during which the team members identified persons stealing power supply and illegal water connections in all commercial, investment, industrial, agricultural and private housing sectors.

He pointed out this month till date 6 reports have been filed, especially those related to bachelors quarters, and the judicial police teams coordinates with the committee to cut off illegal power supply, which poses a threat to the safety of the network and people living in those properties.

He stressed that there are deterrent penalties against foreign investors, which in some cases may lead to deportation, in the event that the committee seizes more than one property managed by the foreign investor, in addition to the existence of heavy financial fines from the Environment Public Authority that may reach 50 thousand dinars for bachelors’ real estate.

Al-Shammari said: We will not be complacent in the case of violations, and that the law is applied on everyone without exception.
