Committee favors use of smart application to report minor accidents

The Interior and Defense Committee of the Parliament has approved a proposal to create an application on smart phones on the website of the Ministry of Interior, through which vehicle drivers can report minor traffic accidents by photographing the accident, entering the vehicle numbers involved with the accident, and receiving the accident report, either by e-mail, or via by SMS.

In his proposal, which has been approved by the committee, MP Muhammad Al-Huwaila said minor traffic accidents (if there are no injuries) cause traffic jams due to the insistence of the parties involved in the accident not to move their vehicles until the arrival of police patrol at the site of the accident, reports a local Arabic daily.

Therefore, the procedures related to reporting accidents must be convenient. It is necessary to take advantage of technological progress in the field of communications and the use of smart phones to report minor traffic accidents by photographing the accident, and receiving the report via e-mail as is the case in many countries that use this system which will undoubtedly save a great deal of time and effort of the security apparatus. This will also help eliminate the problem of traffic congestion caused by minor traffic accidents.
