Official data shows about 3,456 cheques bounced in Kuwait during 2021 due to insufficient bank balance.
Al-Anba said the cheques were issued by 2,422 citizens and residents from January 1 until December 31, 2021.
Data issued by the Central Bank of Kuwait show that among the cheques 1,698 were presented during the first half of the year by 1,245 customers and 1,758 cheques were presented during the second half of the year by 1,177 customers.
The value of the cheques that were returned due to the lack of balance in the accounts of their issuers was about 107 million dinars, of which 24.1 million dinars were issued in the first 6 months of the year, while the value doubled during the second half of the year to 82.8 million dinars.
