In spite of the concerned authorities, including the Ministry of Interior warning against fraud operations an expatriate fell prey to a scam and as a result lost 825 dinars from his bank balance.
According to the victim’s statement, he received a call from a local mobile phone, and on the other end was a person speaking the national dialect.
He introduced himself as an employee in a bank and advised him to be careful of fraud operations carried out by criminal gangs.
The informant said: “The caller asked me for the password and all the complete data to protect my bank account from any fraudulent operations. After that, he asked for the OTP code more than once and I discovered the called stole money from my bank account.
The complaint has been filed at the Maidan Hawalli Police Station.
