At least 17 people were killed and more than 26 others injured when a passenger bus swerved off the road and fell into a ditch in Madaripur district (central Bangladesh), about 63 km south of the capital Dhaka today.
“The passenger bus fell into a ditch on the side of the road, killing 14 passengers on the spot and injuring about 25 or 26 people,” a local official of Shabchar Highway Police told reporters. He added that three of the injured died on their way to local hospitals, reports Al-Rai daily quoting Chinese news agency Xinhua.
The accident occurred when the driver lost control of the bus and it fell into a ditch on a highway.
