British woman released after signing pledge

A British woman, who is believed to be in her late 20s and was arrested for painting a tattoo on her leg deemed offensive to Islam has been released by the Hawalli Governorate investigations department.

The Al-Rai daily said the woman has been released after signing a pledge to remove the four-word Quranic verse tattoo. She said the tattoo was painted two years ago and did not know if it had to anything with religion.

She was arrested after someone complained to the authorities after seeing the tattoo on her leg when she was in a private hospital.
