Bangladesh embassy observes National Mourning Day

Bangladesh Embassy in Kuwait observed the National Mourning Day, the 38th Anniversary of the Father of the Nation of Bangladesh Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Thursday, 15 August 2013 in the Chancery with due solemnity. The program began with the hoisting of the National Flag at half-mast in the morning by Mr. K.M. Ali Reza, Charge d’ Affaires of this Embassy in the presence of Embassy officials, officials of the Bangladesh Military Contingent, Bangladesh Biman, members of Bangladesh community and media representatives.

The main program started with the recitation from the Holy Quran that was followed by observance of one-minute silence in memory of the Father of the Nation and other martyrs of the 15 August, 1975.  Officers of the Embassy read out the messages given by the Hon’ble President, the Hon’ble Prime Minister and the Hon’ble Foreign Minister on the occasion.

Special dua and munajat were offered seeking heavenly blessings for the departed soul of Bangabandhu and other martyrs of the 15 August 1975, and also prayed for continued peace, progress and development of the country.

The program was attended by more than two hundred members from all walks of Bangladesh community in Kuwait. Expatriate community leaders, professionals, freedom fighters, leaders of cultural organizations have voluntarily taken part in the program.

A documentary film was shown in the program which depicted various golden moments of the life, struggle and achievements of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Charge d’ Affaires of the Embassy Mr. K.M. Ali Reza in his speech spoke about the dream of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to liberate the nation from the oppressors and transform our land into ‘Sonar Bangla’. He also urged all community members to follow the ideals of Bangabandhu and work unitedly to establish the Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Bangabandhu.
