Bahrain citizen finds success as Accredited Speaker

Toastmasters International recognizes Mohamed Shukri for mastery of the spoken word in professional presentations

Mohamed Ali Shukri, of The Kingdom Of Bahrain, (has joined Toastmasters organization in late 2004 in a corporate club in the company he works in, Aluminum Barain Co. This was part of employeeys’ communication development scheme. As a safety coordinator back then, Mohamed invested in this program to bring about quality and impact in addressing the different layers of workforce, contractors and visitors on the importance of complying with health and safety measures and standards.

Mohamed’s passion for effective communication and influential public speaking took him further to the World Championship of Public Speaking, where he became the first Arab to reach to the finals in Washington DC in August 2006.

His journey continued as an inspiring speaker across the region as he became one of the frequently invited speaker and trainer in the Health & Safety forums, conferences and events. That passion has since turned into much more; it has become his life’s work. To further advance his speaking skills, Shukri recently earned the Accredited Speaker designation – the prestigious designation recognizing professional-level public speaking skills offered by Toastmasters International.

Toastmasters International is a nonprofit, educational organization devoted to communication and leadership skills development. The Accredited Speaker designation is sought-after by Toastmasters members who are paid professional speakers, have met high standards and are credible authorities in their chosen fields. Fewer than 100 other Toastmasters members have earned the title since the Accredited Speaker program began in 1981.

Shukri is a professional trainer, speaker, consultant and coach, helping companies and individuals build better communication, positive cultures and innovative performance. He is frequently and famously invited to talk and train on Health and Safety, customer service, leadership, and public speaking.

(“Earning the Accredited Speaker is a milestone that came after long years of dedicating myself to my profession as a Health & Safety Practitioner, but not forgoing my passion for public speaking. These two endowments worked in my favor, my clients and audiences, and my country becoming the first one to be awarded from the whole ME” Says Mohamed Shukri.

To become an Accredited Speaker, Shukri had to meet a rigorous set of requirements, including the presentation of at least 25 speeches before various audiences within three years. These presentations, varied in topic and purpose, had to include speeches that persuaded, entertained, informed and motivated. Shukri was required to give two additional presentations before a panel of judges that determined his final qualification for the award.
