Local authorities in the city of Ningchi, Tibet Autonomous Region in southwest China, confirmed that eight people were killed Wednesday night, after an avalanche occurred on Tuesday in the region.
The authorities added that the Public Security Bureau in Meidug County, Nyingchi City, received calls at around 7:50 pm last Tuesday, reporting that an avalanche had occurred at the exit of a tunnel on the highway linking the county with the town of Bad in Meinling County, Ningchi City, trapping people and vehicles reports Al-Rai daily quoting Chinese news agency Xinhua.
The search and rescue operation for the missing is currently underway
