Austria ambassador holds reception to mark National Day

The Austrian ambassador to Kuwait, Marian Warba, praised the development of relations and the great cooperation between his country and Kuwait in all fields, pointing out that this year Austria and Kuwait celebrates the 60th anniversary of the beginning of these relations, which began in 1962.

Speaking on the occasion of Austria’s National Day, in the presence of Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for European Affairs, Counselor Muhammad Hayati, Warba revealed that 30,000 Kuwaitis visit Austria every year, and expressed his happiness for the European Union’s intention to exempt Kuwaitis from the Schengen visa requirement.

He added, “Let us all hope that the exemption for Kuwaitis will be in the year 2024 at the latest, if not before that,” noting that everyone will benefit from this exemption, which will further strengthen the relations between the peoples of the two countries.

He pointed out that the economic and trade relations between the two countries are witnessing a steady growth, but there is a possibility to further enhance this, declaring the Austrian embassy’s readiness to assist in any further deepening of trade relations, and thanked “all Kuwaiti and Austrian business partners who helped and supported us.”

He pointed out that the two famous Austrian companies EVN and WTE are building one of the largest sewage treatment plants in the world in Umm Al-Hayman in southern Kuwait, referring to the work of the two famous construction companies DOKA and Strabag in Kuwait, which are considered among the largest hospital builders and suppliers in the world.

Warba said, “I was ambassador to Kuwait from 2008 to 2012 and I am pleased to see here again many friends I have known for over a decade and many new friends and partners of Austria that I met upon my return to Kuwait in September 2020.”
