INS Shardul, a ship of the Shardul-class amphibious warfare vessels of the Indian Navy, carrying a cargo of 210 MT Liquid Medical Oxygen comprised of eight ISO tanks and two semi-trailers, and 1200 Oxygen Cylinders departed from Kuwait and is now homebound to India.

The aid is being delivered under the relief campaign initiated by the Indian Community Support Group (ICSG) with several Indian associations, organisations and individuals supporting the efforts.

Only yesterday, MV Capt. Kattelmann delivered a consignment of medical supplies from Kuwait of three semitrailers with 75 MT of Liquid Medical Oxygen and 1000 Oxygen cylinders at Nhava Sheva port, Mumbai on 15 May, 2021. In total, 215 MT of liquid Medical Oxygen and 2600 Oxygen Cylinders have arrived in India from Kuwait.

After the consignment reached Mumbai, Arindam Bagchi, Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs India, said, “Taking forward historical ties of friendship. The ship arrives at Nhava Sheva Mumbai (India). 3 semi-trailers of LMO (25 MT each) & 1000 O2 cylinders onboard. Grateful to H.H. Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah the Amir of the State of Kuwait & government of Kuwait.”

Indian Embassy in Kuwait also shared a similar sentiment in a tweet, “India-Kuwait Friendship in action! Supply of Liquid Medical Oxygen from Kuwait continues with the arrival of a consignment of 3 semi-trailers with 75 MT of LMO and 1000 O2 cylinders at Nhava Sheva port, Mumbai (May 15).”

Meanwhile Indian Air Force Aircraft IL76 ferried empty ISO tanks to Kuwait on 14th May, to be refilled, then transported by sea. An Air and Sea supply cycle between Kuwait and India is now fully operational for regular supply of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) to India.

A few days earlier, three Indian Navy ships, INS Kochi and INS Tabar and INS Kolkata transporting oxygen supplies docked at Mangalore port in Karnataka.
