With the country planning a gradual return to normal life, Kuwait International Airport and seaports in the country could resume full operation within a month, while ensuring the health and safety of citizens and residents remain a priority.
Disclosing this, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Corona Emergencies, Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali, also added that other decisions that the Supreme Committee will soon take include restarting tourism. However, a decision on this would be taken only after a planned meeting next week between the Minister of Health and his counterparts in other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.
For its part, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has indicated that Kuwait International Airport would increase its operational capacity for incoming flights to 5,000 passengers per day starting from 22 May.
In response to these positive developments, tourism offices in the country are reported to be competing with each other in a bid to woo customers with generous offers for the summer season. Many travel offices are now advertising attractive rates and offers to those wishing to travel to different destinations, such as Bosnia and Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and other places that are not on a travel ban list.
Several owners of tourism and travel offices emphasized that the recent decision, which will increase the operational capacity of arriving flights to Kuwait International Airport, will greatly revive the travel Industry, especially with the implementation of mandatory institutional quarantine.
Pointing out that travel demand usually starts at the end of May and continues until mid-September when schools reopen, travel agency owners said they expect the travel market to boom during this summer, as many families were not able to travel for up to a year and a half since the beginning of the pandemic.
