ACK marks anniversary of ASEAN founding

To commemorate the 52nd anniversary of ASEAN foundation, the ASEAN Committee in Kuwait (ACK) organized a ceremony at the Malaysian embassy on 8 August.  Abdul Razzaq Al Khalifa, Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister, was the chief guest at the function and was joined by special guests the Ambassador of China H.E. Li Minggang, Ambassador of Japan H.E. Takashi Ashiki, Indian Ambassador H.E. K Jeeva Sagar and Australian Ambassador  H.E. Jonathan Gilbert.  Around 80 guests made up of members of the diplomatic corps, special invitees and media were also present.

The event started with the hoisting of the ASEAN flag, followed by a speech from the Ambassador of Thailand to Kuwait and the current ACK Chair H.E. Dusit Manapan.
Among the festivities on the occasion was a display of Thai dancing as well an exhibition of cultural and tourist highlights of various countries belonging to ASEAN.

The ACK is composed of ambassadors of the 10-member bloc of ASEAN countries, which have diplomatic missions in Kuwait and include Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
