Abuse shelter center to open doors after four years wait

Four years after the opening of the Center in Ahmadi to look at the cases of violence against women, no cases have been reported to the center because reliable sources say there are no employees to operate the center, Al qabas reported.

The daily reported that the Supreme Family Council, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Community Development, had earlier equipped the center with tools and mechanisms and even installed a hotline to receive complaints from what it called “abused women”, but it the hotline has yet to be activated for various reasons.

However, according to informed sources after the recent visits of human rights organizations, the Center is expected to open its doors soon given the increasing need for it given the high frequency of violence against women and even murders.

The sources say the center remained inactive due to lack of budget absence of qualified employees who can handle such cases. Finally, the center will see the light of day in coordination with the Ministry of Interior.
